Recent reports from Tuttomercatoweb indicate that Arsenal is closely monitoring Atalanta striker Ademola Lookman. Sources suggest that the Gunners may pursue a move for the Nigerian striker if they fail to sign other targets in the summer transfer window.

Should Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta sign Lookman?

Lookman is an excellent dribbler with the ball at his feet and is capable of making some dangerous runs down the wing. He possesses excellent vision, can create some great chances for his teammates in the final third, and is capable of a powerful shot from long range.

The Nigerian prodigy primarily plays as a striker, but can also operate on either flank if required. However, there are some concerns about his ability to maintain his form in the Premier League.

Lookman would add more firepower to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta’s attack. He’s good enough to be an ideal backup to Victor Giocheres at the north London club.

At 27, Lookman is nearing his prime, making him a worthwhile option for the Gunners in this transfer window. He could even help Arsenal become more competitive across the board in the coming years. Therefore, it makes sense for Arteta to sign him this summer.

Lookman’s stellar performance in Italian football

Lookman has enjoyed a highly effective season for the Italian club, delivering numerous impressive performances in front of the opposition goal. The Nigerian star played 40 games for Atalanta across all competitions last season, scoring 20 goals and providing 7 assists.

The 27-year-old excels in attack, averaging 3.24 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A with a 39.5% accuracy rate. Lookman has a 72.5% pass completion rate in Italy’s top flight and is also excellent at distributing possession in the opponent’s half.

His current contract with the Italian club expires in the summer of 2027. Therefore, it will be difficult for the Gunners to sign him on a low price this offseason.
