Barcelona in talks to sign Atlético Madrid youngster

Goal.com recently reported that Barcelona is in talks to sign Atlético Madrid youngster Jerónimo Spina this summer. The Catalan club is reportedly eager to sign the Argentine prodigy this offseason.
Barcelona in talks to sign Spina: Is he a future star?
Spina is an excellent tackler, keenly aware of danger and able to recover possession for his team defensively. He often uses his feet to dislodge the ball from the opposition’s forward half and then builds up plays from the back.
This 1.87-meter-tall Argentine prodigy possesses a strong aerial presence, winning a considerable number of aerial duels within his own half. However, his skills are still relatively immature, and it will take some time for him to become a regular starter in the top flight. Nevertheless, signing a defender with such potential has more advantages than disadvantages.
We can expect Spina to be a long-term boost to Barcelona coach Hansi Flick’s defensive team. As long as he continues to improve season by season, he has the potential to excel at Camp Nou.
This 20-year-old Argentine prodigy is undoubtedly a rising star to watch in the future. Therefore, Flick would be wise to do everything he can to lure Spina to the Catalan club before the summer transfer window closes. However, the Barcelona coach will need to be patient and wait for Spina’s progress to get the best out of this talented center-back.
Spina’s impressive rise in Spanish football
Spina has impressed with his performances for Atlético Madrid’s reserve team. However, he has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Madrid club.
The 20-year-old is currently one of the best young defenders in Spanish football. Therefore, Barcelona would be well-positioned to acquire him this transfer window.
Spina’s contract with Atlético Madrid runs until the summer of 2027, which may make it difficult for the Catalan club to sign him on a low price this offseason.
