Mikel Arteta Wants Two New Players for Arsenal

The Gunners have had an excellent transfer window, completing six signings so far, and more additions to the first-team squad are possible before next month’s transfer deadline.
The Times reports that Arteta still wants to bring in several players. To suit the manager’s more direct style of play, he plans to bring in a direct left winger and a creative midfielder.
The Gunners plan to negotiate with Crystal Palace for midfield playmaker Eberechi Eze, while they are expected to wait and see whether Real Madrid winger Rodrigo will leave on loan.
Ambitions
Arsenal strengthened their attacking arsenal this summer with the signings of Victor Giocheres and Noni Madueke. Giocheres should provide an offensive boost to the number nine, while Madueke is a specialist on the right wing. Madueke can also operate on the other flank, but Arteta would ideally like to bring in another specialist in that position to compete with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
Rodrigo possesses superior passing and shooting skills, which would enhance the attacking effectiveness of Martinelli and Trossard. The biggest question is whether the Gunners can loan Rodrigo from Real Madrid, as they may not be able to offer him and Eze permanent contracts, having already spent over £200 million on new signings during the current transfer window.
It is well known that Arsenal is interested in signing Eze, who has a £67.5 million release clause in his contract. The Englishman can play in any attacking position behind the main striker, but his most suitable role is as a number 10. In the 2024/25 season, he contributed 25 goals for the Eagles from an attacking midfielder.
Rodrigo would be a good addition. The Brazilian player contributed 25 goals to Real Madrid last season, 12 of which came from the left wing. He had a 91% pass accuracy in La Liga last season and only wasted one clear-cut chance in the entire league.
Eze’s release clause expired in early August, but Arsenal remains confident of signing him. They plan to negotiate a contract below his release clause and establish a long-term payment plan. The Gunners may need to rely on player sales to cover his transfer fee. If Arsenal can sign both Eze and Rodrygo, they will have one of the best transfer windows ever.
