Rangers had a slow start to the transfer window but have gone all-in on transfers in the remainder.

Experienced defenders such as Leon Balogun and Robin Propper have departed, but Rangers have brought in Nacer Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandes to strengthen their backline.

Ridvan Yilmaz may leave, with Besiktas trying to sign him, while Rangers have signed Oliver Antman for a club-record fee from the “Go Forward Eagles.”

Russell Martin’s team performed well in the Champions League qualifiers, defeating Viktoria Plzen 3-0 in the first leg of their third qualifying round tie on Tuesday night.

Before the transfer window closed in early September, Mendy had become one of Rangers’ “priorities.”

Rangers now need to make an offer to the La Liga club, who have a number of suitors.

Valecano has offered €2 million for a 50% stake in Mendy, and Rangers must raise their bid to outbid their competition.

Belgian club Club Brugge and Dutch Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven have also expressed interest in the 20-year-old center-back.

PSV was originally prepared to pay €4 million, but the deal fell through due to issues with the Eredivisie’s standards for foreign players.

Betis is hoping to collect a transfer fee close to €4 million to let the Senegalese player, who is expected to leave the club this summer, leave. It remains to be seen whether Rangers will make a specific arrangement for Mendy.

Under new manager Martin, Rangers are aiming to compete with their arch-rivals Celtic and have already demonstrated their willingness to spend big.

According to Spanish media outlet ElDesmarque, Rangers are looking to further strengthen their defense, with Betis defender Edouard Mendy as the latest addition to their transfer list. Mendy has been highly sought after this summer, prompting Rangers to include him in their transfer list.

They have “already spoken” with Mendy, hoping to promote the promising young player and explain his role in Martin’s new squad.
