Tottenham Hotspur secured Rodrigo due to Liverpool’s priority list -..

The Merseyside club beat Newcastle United to the signing of Hugo Ekitike in the winter transfer window. However, with Luis Diaz sold and Darwin Nunez imminent, they wanted another striker.
Nunez was close to moving to Saudi Arabia for a whopping €53 million from Liverpool. The club was keen to sign Alexander Isak, but Newcastle didn’t want him to leave.
Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, a natural right winger who can play as a central striker, was also on their wish list.
But Tottenham Hotspur weren’t the only Premier League club interested; last season’s Europa League champions were also interested in the Brazilian.
Rodrigo was reportedly ready to leave this summer, but Real Madrid set a €90 million price tag for the 24-year-old. Tottenham are trying to negotiate a lower price with Real Madrid, but sources claim Rodrygo would choose Liverpool over Tottenham if given the opportunity.
However, Paris Saint-Germain is trying to secure a long-term contract for Bacon, but may consider a Liverpool offer in excess of €100 million.
Liverpool’s view of Real Madrid’s Rodrigo as their third option behind Isak and Bacon may offer some encouragement to Tottenham.
However, it remains unclear how much Tottenham can afford to pay for his services.
With James Maddison likely to miss most of the season with an ACL injury, the team may need to spend heavily in the transfer market to find a midfielder.
However, according to the French website Foot Mercato, Tottenham’s pursuit of Rodrigo has intensified, as he is not Liverpool’s primary target.
Despite Newcastle’s high asking price, the Reds still prioritize Isak, but the Swedish striker remains hopeful of reaching an agreement.
Liverpool has a contingency plan in place should they fail to sign Isak, and there are reports that they will approach Paris Saint-Germain to make a specific offer for Bradley Bacon.
